I have stood on the lonely mountains side
And have looked out a sharp, sheer mountain gap,
And seen sorrounding low desert hills
As sunsets shadow seeped over their sides
while light, leaving, lent luster to ledges.
There I have surely seen the Danaan lands:
With all their inexpressible beauty
And all their inexpressible despair;
A light world of immortal love and life,
A dark world of deceit, decay, and death.
Light lying in bright orange, pink, and pearl,
Shading to shadows purple, blue, and black.
An underworld of ethereal light.
